Day 5 – Cliffs of Moher

There is free WIFI at the Cliffs of Moher!!!!! Wha???? Somehow this doesn’t sit with me. My third visit and it has certainly “developed”. Gone are the days when you could run up to the precipice and hang your feet over the 660 foot drop. Now there’s shops, cafes, a centre with films. It was fun and it is one of the most photographed sites in Eire.

sion with Hugh Healey (concertina), Kevin Feticane (fiddle) and Sean Vaughan (box). Another late one; music til 2:00 and chatting til 2:30.

Day 4 – The Wild Atlantic Trail & meeting Gabe & his crowd

Down to Ennis today as Gabriel, Chelsea & her parents are arriving via train from Dublin. We drove the scenic route which is sign posted The Wild Atlantic Way. I find this very progressive for Ireland which often does not advertise or acknowledge any of her treasures. Highlights were the beach at Flaggy Shore & a great lunch in Kinvarra. Got to teh Ennis Train station by 5\;00 pm to collect Gabe, Chelsea, Rob & Cathy. They won’t all fit in the Peugot 208 so it’s 2 trips to Charmette on Limerick Road, where we will stay for the next 7 days. Was a great session at Faffa’s with Blackie O’Connell, Siobhan Peoples & Seanie O’Gorman. Also at the table were Alf (Mandolin), Kevin Jones (piano box) & Joel (fiddle). John Culliney showed up to keep Teresa & Gabe laughing. Home by 3:00 am.

Day 3 – Galway City

Teresa & I drove up to Galway to catch the early session at Tig Coili’s with Paul Bradley & Declan Corey. Yay great session and they were playing loads of hornpipes I didn’t know with lightening fast triplets. Declan alternates his triplets on the mandolin. some are started on a down pick and some on an up; and they sound clean! Rob Fuller met up with us, took Teresa out of the pub for a 10 minute tour of Shop Street and then we walked back to Renmore to

Day 2 – Kearney’s Bar Castleisland Co. Kerry

Jackie, Teresa & myself headedinto town for the weekly seesion at Kearney’s Bar. Notable tunes were Jacie’s version of “Bourasque”, and he and I playing “The Morning Mist” hornpipe, as well as the 4 part version of “The Masons’ Apron”! Present were Joe Lane, Dermot Scolaire. Tim (piano box), Tony Halsall, Dave (Whistle), Jackie Dan Gerry O’Connor & meself.
